The most common cause of a clogged kitchen sink drain is cooking oil or grease. While oil and especially grease can assume a liquid form while heated, once they are cooled they become solid again. Running hot water or pouring boiling water might help but these solutions really only work to push the grease further down the pipes, where once cooled again will become solid.

While grease and cooking oils are the most common causes of backed up kitchen sinks, they are by no means the only possible cause. The next most common is, of course, large pieces of food that would have done much better in the trash can. Foreign objects of any kind can of course fall in and cause blockages as well. These can include anything from broken glass and plastic to rags and towels to small toys dropped in by the kids. Whatever issue is causing your clog, however, we have to tools and expertise to clear it out and get your drainage flowing properly again.
